The Jamhuri Kenya Sports Excellence Awards features 65 categories organised into 7 groups. This is not just about the players on the pitch — it is about everyone who makes the game possible.
Group A: Players (18 Categories)
The Players group recognises on-field excellence across multiple positions. Each position has separate male and female awards, ensuring equal recognition. Categories include Footballer of the Year, Top Goal Scorer, Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder, Forward, Fair Play / Disciplined Player, and Rising Star. Two special categories honour kid footballers — recognising talent from the youngest age.
Group B: Coaching & Technical Development (6 Categories)
Behind every great player is a great coach. This group honours coaches at the senior and youth/grassroots level (male and female), a dedicated Women's Football Coach award, and a Technical Development Leader category for those shaping the future of coaching in Kenya.
Group C: Team, Club & Competition (8 Categories)
Football is a team sport, and this group celebrates the best teams, community clubs, women's teams, football academies, school programmes, grassroots initiatives, fair play clubs, and the most organized clubs in the country.
Group D: Refereeing & Match Officials (6 Categories)
No match happens without officials. This group honours referees and assistant referees (male and female), plus young referees who are the future of officiating in Kenya.
Group E: Governance, Administration & Support (11 Categories)
The people who run the clubs, manage the teams, keep players safe, and handle the logistics. From safeguarding officers and FKF branch leaders to kit managers and medical teams — these awards shine a light on the backbone of Kenyan football.
Group F: Media & Digital Sports Excellence (13 Categories)
Sports media professionals bring the game to millions. This group honours journalists, TV and radio presenters, photographers, videographers, digital content creators, and the Sports Media House of the Year.
Group G: Infrastructure, Sponsorship & Industry (3 Categories)
The facilities we play in and the brands that invest in our sport matter. This group recognises the best stadium/facility, the most impactful sports sponsor, and the top sports brand/partner of the year.
