Women's football in Kenya has grown enormously in recent years. Harambee Starlets have competed on the continental stage. The Kenya Women's Premier League is expanding. More girls are playing football in schools and communities than ever before. But recognition has not kept pace with progress — until now.
Dedicated Female Categories
The Jamhuri Kenya Sports Excellence Awards features over 30 categories that specifically recognise women and girls in football. Every player position award has a separate female category. There are dedicated categories for women's football coaches, women's team administrators, women's team managers, and the county FKF Women's League Leader of the Year.
Why This Matters
When a young girl in Nakuru sees a woman from her county win the "Most Impactful Women's Football Coach of the Year" award, it sends a powerful message: women belong in football, at every level, in every role. Representation matters, and awards drive visibility.
